Back Ground To Becoming a Derby Chiropractor

Your local Derby chiropractor (at Derby Family Chiropractic) started life as a Engineer and worked in this field for approximately 15 years.

A strong desire to help others and an interest in chiropractic spurred Stuart Rudd on to studying once again to become a chiropractor. Stuart Rudd (the Derby chiropractor that we are talking about) believes his strong science and engineering background was beneficial and still plays apart in his career. Stuart was born in Derby but spent much of his time in th South West of England and spent 15 years as an engineering manager at Honda of the UK manufacturing Ltd in Swindon, Wiltshire. Stuart started Derby Family Chiropractic in his home town of Derby as he believed Derby required a McTimoney chiropractic clinic.

It generally takes 4-5 years to study to become a licensed chiropractor in the UK and all studies are heavily regulated by the GCC in the UK.

Most chiropractors work in private clinics but many also work in multi-disciplinary clinics. Whilst others are increasingly being employed by sports teams to work with injury rehabilitation and others work in education fields.

There are only 3 colleges in the UK that specialise in chiropractic and these are located in Abingdon, Bornemouth and Glamorgan. All courses include psychology, physics, biology, chemistry, social sciences, pathology, physiology, public health, microbiology, biochemistry and anatomy and of course chiropractic.
